Historical Information on the Rockman/Mega Man original series

Mega Man the original series:

It debuted in December 17, 1987 and has been the basis of all Rockman/Mega Man video games.
It was a 2-D side scroller and the system that was chosen for it’s debut was the Nintendo Entertainment System and later on was set on five more different gaming systems. There were 9 video games in total and 15 side story’s. Keiji Inafune was in charge of the original series and was known as the father of Rockman till later information shows he was not, and his “mentor” created the “Mega Man” with Keiji Inafune half and half…

Quote from Keiji, TGS 2007 Rockman conference:
[1]“I’m often called the father of Mega Man, but actually, his design was already created when I joined Capcom. My mentor [at Capcom], who was the designer of the original Mega Man, had a basic concept of what Mega Man was supposed to look like. So I only did half of the job in creating him. I didn’t get to completely design a Mega Man [protagonist] from scratch until Zero (Mega Man X, SNES). Back when the SNES was coming out, I was asked to give Mega Man a redesign, so I created this character. But I realized that this design wouldn’t be accepted as Mega Man, so I had another designer create the new Mega Man, and I worked on Zero to release him as the ‘other main character’ that would steal all the good scenes!” – Keiji Inafune

Capcom since then has been reaping the rewards from Mega Man 2 as it is the most popular Mega Man game to this day. It has sold through out the world 1.5 million copies.

Capcom also has released the much talked about Mega Man 9, it has been released on the Wii and you can purchase it on WiiWare for 1000 wii points.
